The Parishes of Great Ness & Little Ness, Shropshire

The NessCliffe Hills Walkers Group has been formed by local people who care about the local environment. Our aim is to preserve, protect and promote the footpaths in this lovely area.
We formed the NessCliffe Hills Walkers Group because we felt that, whilst horse riders’ interests are well represented locally, walkers’ interests are not. We’re sure that horse riders alike will agree that the local environment is fragile and if future generations are to enjoy the beauty of our local environment and our national heritage then we need to
protect it.
The County Council has promised us that rights of way in the Country Park will soon be clearly marked. We aim to ensure that the County Council fulfils their promise to do this as clear signposting of rights of way, so that everyone understands where they can — and cannot — go, seems to us an excellent way of preserving and protecting the local
environment.
Open access is a wonderful thing — isn’t it great to be able to walk over the hill fort at will? One of the aims of the Walkers Group is to ensure that this ancient site is protected. It will be a simple task if we all respect the law. All we have to do is respect the fact that there are places where we can ride and walk and places where we can’t.
We plan to have an open meeting in the Autumn. Watch this space for further details.
